2018-2022 - First Generation UWB Technology

Discovery 5, Range Rover Velar, Defender (2020+), Updated F-PACE/XE/XF, I-PACE

Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology was introduced to prevent relay attacks. Adding keys requires RFA (Remote Function Actuator) module replacement. For all-keys-lost situations, RFA replacement is also needed, and if the vehicle has been locked with the BCM in alarm mode, BCM replacement is required as well. This makes costs higher than earlier models even for basic key additions.

Newer models have more advanced theft protection, which means more sophisticated equipment and procedures are needed. Our Approach: Dealer-Level Standards

We program keys exactly the same way as main dealerships. When modules need replacing, we replace them—no shortcuts. JLR requires a minimum of 2 keys to be programmed to these vehicles, which we always provide. This applies to all generations:

2015-2018 models: We replace the RFA module and program all available keys. All old keys are deleted from the system—not left "floating" where someone could potentially retain access to your vehicle.
2018-2022 models: RFA module replacement with proper programming. BCM replacement added if the vehicle is locked with alarm active.
2022+ models: Both RFA and BCM modules replaced and correctly coded, even for adding keys.
